Change of Use Permit
Change of use permits are required for businesses that are moving into a new location if the new business is a different Use under the Land Use Bylaw than the existing use of the location. For example, a retail business would require a change of use permit if they moved into a location that was previously a restaurant.
The change of use permit application is reviewed to ensure that the new business meets the parking and land use regulations applicable to the location.
Applicants may request a variance when their proposed or existing development differs from the regulations in the Land Use Bylaw. The application must demonstrate that the variance is warranted due to the specific circumstance of the property.
