What is the purpose of an archive?
An archive is a repository responsible for the appraisal, acquisition, preservation and conservation of records that have been determined to have continuing historical and informational value. These records can be personal or business papers, diaries, letters, photographs, newspapers, art, etc. In Wetaskiwin the archive is part of the municipal government departmental structure as well as the place where the archival materials are housed.
