[ARCHIVED] National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebrations

Held annually on June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to celebrate and learn more about the cultural diversity of Canada's First Nations people. The following events are taking place in Wetaskiwin and area in honour of this important occasion:

  • June 19  |  1 pm - 3 pm  |  Wetaskiwin Memorial Arts Centre (dancing, drumming, bannock, etc.)
  • June 21  |  Celebratory events in Maskwacis (the City is providing free busing from Wetaskiwin to Maskwacis--and back--to anyone wishing to attend the celebration there).

Busing to Maskwacis on June 21

The staging area for busing is at the southwest end of the Wetaskiwin Mall parking lot (near the pet store). Rides are free! Everyone is welcome.
The bus schedule for the day is as follows:

11:30 am
Bus leaves Wetaskiwin for Ermineskin Powwow Grounds (first bus run of the day)
12:00 pm
Bus heads back to staging area in Wetaskiwin
12:30 pm
Bus leaves Wetaskiwin for Ermineskin Powwow Grounds
1:00 pm
Bus heads back to staging area in Wetaskiwin
1:30 pm
Bus leaves Wetaskiwin for Ermineskin Powwow Grounds
2:00 pmBus heads back to staging area in Wetaskiwin
2:30 pmBus leaves Wetaskiwin for Ermineskin Powwow Grounds
3:00 pmBus heads back to staging area in Wetaskiwin
3:30 pmBus leaves Wetaskiwin for Ermineskin Powwow Grounds
4:00 pmBus heads back to staging area in Wetaskiwin (last bus run of the day)
