Cannabis Legalization: Where We Are & Where We're Headed

Cannabis Leaf.jpg
As you may know, non-medical cannabis is expected to be legalized across Canada mid-2018. As Canada will be the first G7 country to fully legalize cannabis in order to combat the black market, there is no tried-and-true roadmap or instruction manual. This is a new experience for all levels of government, and your input is an important part of the process.

Wetaskiwin City Council is carefully considering every aspect of the decisions municipalities must make to prepare for the eventual legalization of cannabis. Education and public awareness are large parts of this preparedness, and the City of Wetaskiwin has created a section on our municipal website specifically dedicated to providing you with current statistics and information. It is important to be informed on this issue, and understand its impacts.

Sharing your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions helps Wetaskiwin City Council navigate decisions with outcomes that reflect the needs and desires of our community. Eventual council decisions made on this issue will be communicated as widely as possible in order to keep you informed and ensure you have the opportunity to provide your feedback.

You can provide your input in the following ways:
