Did You Know?
The City of Wetaskiwin has required a permit for hot water tank installations since the inception of permits in 1996.

Permits ensure that all work completed has been done safely, and both contractors and the general public are required to obtain them. A gas permit is required for installing a water heater due to the fact that the fixture’s piping and venting usually need to be altered or rearranged during installation. Improperly installed water heaters can cause fires and/or floods that could result in property damage—or worse, injury to your family or yourself.

The City of Wetaskiwin’s permit process operates on a cost recovery basis only. It is a user-based fee, and its primary purpose is to ensure your protection. The cost of a residential permit is typically more than a commercial one due to the higher demand for residential inspections.

Letters have been sent out to residents and contractors regarding the imperative of obtaining a permit for any and all work completed, as per the City of Wetaskiwin Safety Codes Permit Bylaw 1831-14. If you require more information, please contact IJD Inspections at 1-877-617-8776.
