Residents likely noticed a typo when they opened up their 2023 property tax notices.
Property tax notices were mailed out to all Wetaskiwin property owners on Friday, May 26, 2023. The notices contained this line: "Penalties for late or non-payment of current taxes are applied Jul 1, 2022: 9%, Oct 1, 2022: 6% and Jan 1, 2023: 15% on all outstanding balances." On your tax notice, it will have appeared like so:
The correct dates for penalties are:
- July 1, 2023: 9%
- October 1, 2023: 6%
- January 1, 2024: 15 %
Payment is due by Friday, June 30, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. Residents who have not received their notices are asked to contact the City immediately.
