It's flushing time!
Starting on April 10, Aquatera will be conducting hydrant flushing in the City of Wetaskiwin.
Hydrant flushing is the quick release of water from fire hydrants to maintain the quality of the water distribution system. This process ensures the hydrant maintains proper water flow and pressure, and improves the quality of water by removing sediment, minerals and stagnant water.
The process will take place on Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. until approximately September 30. Each hydrant takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes per hydrant.
During this time, your water may become cloudy and discoloured, but there is no health risk and it remains safe to drink. To remove the cloudiness and discolouration, simply run your tap for two to three minutes until it disappears.
