[ARCHIVED] Statement from the mayor's office

Mayor Tyler Gandam has issued a statement on the occasion of International Women's Day.

"It absolutely blows my mind that, in 2023, we still have to imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world where differences are valued and celebrated. This is the message on the website for International Women’s Day on March 8.

Instead of imagining it, make it happen. Every woman in this world should have every opportunity that a man has and not be discriminated against in pursuit of their goals or dreams. I have a daughter and she will absolutely grow up knowing she is equal — and to not accept anything less.

I look forward to a day when we no longer need awareness campaigns in order to remember to treat everyone with dignity and equity regardless of their gender. Make it happen."
