Getting Around Wetaskiwin

Highways

Wetaskiwin is connected to the following highways:

  • Highway 2A (north to Leduc / south to Red Deer)
  • Highway 13 (west to QEII Hwy / east to Camrose)
    The QEII is the main north-south route linking Calgary and Edmonton

Walking Paths / Trail System

Wetaskiwin is walkable! You can walk across the City within an hour. Our user-friendly trail system is well used by outdoor enthusiasts on foot, bike, roller blades, long boards, etc.

Transit

While no official public transit exists in Wetaskiwin at this time, the City of Wetaskiwin transit handi-van service is available until June 30, 2023. For more information about why the City transit service is being discontinued, please read the press release

  • 24/7 dispatch available.
  • Rides are available for seniors or those with mobility issues.
  • In-town trips must be booked at least 48 hours in advance.
  • Out-of-town trips must be booked at least two (2) weeks in advance.

City Administration is currently exploring opportunities to transition the transit handi-van service to external stakeholders who may be interested in providing transit services to the community. Taxi / Cab

Wetaskiwin is home to multiple taxi/cab services, if you need a quick car ride somewhere.

Air Service

Wetaskiwin has its own airport, featuring 24-hour access and a 3,900 foot runway. Edmonton International Airport is only a 25 minute drive from Wetaskiwin, and offers both commercial and air freight services.
